Away to Hong Kong

I will be on my way to Hong Kong in the afternoon with a group of friends! Yeah!! A long waited holiday that has finally arrived. =) 7 days (5 days to be exact) of eating, shopping, relaxing, playing …

Before we plan our route itinerary, I have looked up information on the internet. A useful one will be the virtual tourist web. It provided a comprehensive travel guide with feedbacks from people who had been there. There are also the warnings or danger, and tourist traps sections which are very useful for people traveling free & easy.

Other than Hong Kong, we will also be traveling to Shen Zhen. There seems to be so much danger lurking in the area, thief, beggar, aggressive salespersons. Hence, I tried to do all sorts of prevention, thinking of all the worst possible scenarios.

Then, my mother said “Choy, choy, why you keep thinking of the bad things? Just be careful, don’t think so much.”

Ya, that’s right. I should not think of those. I heard of the law of attraction. The more bad things you think about, the more you are going to attract them to happen. So, I should place my focus on FUN and be alert. That’s all.

I will be back on the 31st July. =)

#Think and focus more on the things that you want them to happen.

Alzheimer

Make your own at ProfilePitstop.com

Alzheimer usually happens in older people. But, I was often joked by my friends to have that too. Haha.

"Do you remember? You were there, you saw it too, you know... it's just few days ago... alright, I know from the look of your blur face..." these are the common sentences I hear from my friends when I am trying to recall certain things.

But, to me, I don't think my memory is that not good. I do remember stuff, only that my mind sometimes did some selective memory scan and filtering, I guess. Lol. Or, my mind is too tired.. (excuses!)

Of course, I wouldn't want to have the Alzheimer disease. It is too scary not to have any memory or not to know your past as this is part of what you are made up of.

#Please do remind me to remember. Thanks! =)

Call for help

When you need help with your Math questions, who do you look for??

Please call for the Math experts.. =p

Be specific on what you want your students or your child to do. Giving them general instructions will only confuse them.

For example, when I asked my student to solve a question, I would normally give them a specific time to complete it. This is done as when I questioned one student why he is not doing his question fast when he is told to do so, he told me that I did not specifically tell him how fast he needs to complete it. That is why he do at a pace which he thinks is fast enough.

Goals

Do you have any goals?

Life can only be more fulfilling when you have a goal, when you know what you want and you are doing what you can to achieve your goals.

It is not easy to set one and follow closely to it as there are always obstacles along the way. But, the joy is in the process of achieving your goal. And, of course, the final result of the goal is satisfying!

One can be easily lost and lose control of their life when they do not know what they want. Furthermore, there will be no motivation to do your best in what you have been doing.

My all time favourite game, The Sims, has lots of things and goals to fulfill. Be it the career goals (to advance), skills goals (to learn new skills), social goals (made more friends), home goals (build a nicer house) and many others, there is always something that keeps you going, wanting to play and achieve more.

Just like real life, there are so many things we can do. You have to be clear on what you want and do your best to get it! =)

#Let us start with a simple goal and move on to more!

Mischievous Cat

What interesting event can happen at a Passing Out Parade (POP) of the police cadets?

If you think it is going to be a serious and boring parade, you are wrong!

That was my initial thought too when I reach the Home Team Academy. I was invited my little brother to attend his POP.

At first, everything is the norm, with the marching of the cadets, standing for the arrival of the guests and then getting sat again repeatedly. Then, here came this mischievous cat! It started by strolling towards the spot of the commander, doing it's best to get a better view.

This tiny move caused the guards to be on alert, trying to catch the cat before it moved further into the parade ground.

On the other hand, the cadets are continuing with their marching. As they march, some had to march past the cat. To our amazement, the cat quickly scrambled further into the parade ground and took it’s “VIP” seat at the middle of the parade ground! Lolz.

I couldn’t stop laughing when I see how relaxed the cat is though it is surrounded by hundreds of people marching around him. Haha.. =)

After the POP, my brother told me that lots of the cadets were actually amused by the cat as well. Most were trying to contain their laughter when they are marching.

The red circle is the "VIP" spot of the cat. haha

Left and Right

Click the colour and not the word! Test out the game here. My current high score is only 75. =p How well can you perform?

During Cognitive training, there is an activity that requires the student to read the word and colours of the word. Blue Green

This is training the student to switch between using the left brain and the right brain.

Most of the time, we are only using our dominant side of the brain. But, to enhance our learning and thinking process, we need the balanced participation of both sides of the brain.

Test out which side your dominant brain is here.

When learning something new, we tend to learn it in our usual comfortable way (the dominant brain). It is alright to do so. However, if you want to have more ways of learning, that is, learning in a more efficient and effective way, your brain may not be able to accept it as it is so used to the dominant side of the brain.

This is why we need to train both sides of the brain! =)

Meaningful Numbers..

Yesterday is 07.07.07.

It is the day when one of my friend had a new position as a wife. A simple celebration, yet you could feel the happiness that is revolving around them. =)

Without them, I don't think the number 07.07.07 will be that meaningful to me.

As this date will just happen once in a lifetime (or even lesser?), there are many others who is also getting married around the world.

To some, it is the lucky 7 day as that's the number for the one in a million chance Jackpot as well (7 7 7).

But, no matter what, a number will only be meaningful to YOU when you add memories and value to it.

35026 is meaningful number to me, but to the rest it may just be a random number that you see. haha.. =P

#Create memories, made the number yours.

How to cry?

One of my student posted this question at me after i told him that he had to redo a math question for the third time (he is not careful with his workings).

Student: I feel like crying. Can you teach me how to cry?

Me: It is a skill that you already have when you are born.

Student: But, you are a teacher, you have to teach me how to cry!

Me: When your mum gives birth to you, the first thing you did was to cry! And, isn't that the first skill you have learn when you step into this new world? After that, you had lots of practices in crying too, didn't you?

Student: -silence-

This student always has lots of question to ask, some is related to lesson, some is not. But, I am still glad that he do ask questions as some students no matter what, will not ask anything when in doubt. This in turn also shorten their learning opportunities.

Letting Go..

When you want to let go of something, do you think it'll happen when you just talk about it?

Had a long chat with 2 close friends. One of them is very pessimistic about her life due to family and relationship issues.

She wants to let go of a relation. But, she is not doing anything about it yet.

I know it is hard to let go everything in such a short time, but if you don't start doing something right now, will you be able to let go of anything?

It has been dragging on for a number of years, and I seriously don't think that it is good for her to keep holding on to something that doesn't belong to her.

Memories may be good, but sometimes they are better left untouched.

What is she waiting for? And, what are you waiting for??

#When you want to change something, DO IT, don't just say it.
