Endless shopping

I love shopping!! =)

Been shopping online for accessories and clothes. One of the web that I frequent is the sg sprees. They have goods from Taiwan, Hong Kong, US, Canada, Japan, etc. The goods range is wide too, from clothes to accessories to shoes to bags to dvds to books and more..

Got a good bargain recently when I bought 2 necklaces. haha.. Previously, I saw these 2 necklaces on 2 blogs and they are selling for $30 plus each. But, I only bought them at less than $10 each at this Maple Syrup Spree that I joined.

I have started to buy shirts too. And, again, I got a good bargain. haha.. I bought this top for $14 online at the sg spree and my friend bought a similar shirt in Singapore at $20+. The quality is the same too. However, mine has an opportunity cost, I have to wait for 1 month for the shirt to arrive from Taiwan. To those that can wait, you found a good deal here! =p

But, of course, online shopping has its risk as well. I saw one case online where the spree organiser disappeared after collecting the money! Be alert and pick those spree organiser that has more experience (with lots of positive feedbacks too), I believe they are more trustworthy. =)

Ocean Park, Pandas and The Peak

30.07.07

Day 6 – Ocean Park, Pandas and The Peak

This is a super tiring day!

Started with bean curb breakfast at this small coffee shop at Mongkok.Mongkok Breakfast

A very busy day as we had a few places in mind to visit and this is our last night in Hong Kong.

First destination – Ocean Park

Ocean Park

We had to take a bus (696) from Admiralty MTR to reach the Ocean Park. To our surprise, there were a lot of people queuing to go to the Ocean Park on a Monday!

to Ocean Park

(this is only one of the many buses that is fetching the people to the Ocean Park)

On the way up, we saw some of the rides. It looked so scary man!

Ocean Park

As we have 2 aunties with us, we decided to start with a mild ride. Lol.

The Ocean Park Tower

Ocean Park Tower

You get to see the full view as it went quite high up and nothing is blocking the way.

Then, we moved on to the Ferris Wheels. It wasn’t supposed to be scary, but it was very shaky when we were in it. Lol. The constant stopping make it worst, but the view from there is quite nice.

Also, due to the hot weather, we had no energy to play most of the rides. Hence, we ended the rides with this supposedly to be windy ride, the swing. However, when we were on the swing, it is hot wind that is blowing against us. Lol.

Next up is the ocean aquarium which is a 4 storey deep ocean. We saw lots of BIG fishes! But, they seem to be quite poor thing as they can only swim in that area round and round.

Visited the Sharks corner. It has a travelator with the aquarium surrounding it, so you get to see the sharks swimming all around you! A very close up view.

Then, we took the cable car to the other side of the Park to see the Pandas. The cable car is a real scary experience. Lol, me and my friends were screaming when it moved down the mountains. Haha. The cable cars are hanging on to these thin lines and we are above rocky mountains and the big sea. You can’t blame us for screaming right?

Finally, get to see the pandas after the shock. Initially, the 4 pandas were all asleep. However, we decided to wait and luckily our waiting paid off. We got the best view of the pandas eating and moving around.

Aren’t they cute? But, they are very lazy animals. Hahha

After this, we got out of the place as fast as we could as the weather is really intolerable. We need some air con!!

Had our dinner at Café De Corals before making our way to the Peak. Took a double deck bus up the Peak. It was a very good view on the upper deck and the road is quite bumpy just like riding on one of those thrilling rides.

What luck we had when our bus suddenly broke down at the middle of the mountain. Lol. Ended up waiting for around 20 minutes for the next bus to arrive.

The journey up took quite long. But, I suppose it is worth it with the compensation of the scenery and the windy weather. =)

Took the tram ride back to Central area. It is an eye-opener man!! I didn’t know that the ride is this fast and it is around 45 degrees angle backward down the mountain! Yet, a Korean lady managed to stand 45 degrees from the floor with her body straight without falling. Amazed by her skill!

Finally, went back to Mongkok for the final shopping and went back hostel to pack up!

Eat, Shop, Avenue of Stars

29.07.07

Day 5 – Eat, Shop, Avenue of Stars

Yummy egg tarts and big cup of homemade Soya Milk to start off the day!

Took the MTR to Jordon and walk all the way down to Tsim Sha Tsui. Thought there will be stuff to shop, but …

Walked around the area and saw the space museum and the arts exhibition. Tickets are needed to enter the space museum. Hence, decided not to go.

Tsim Sha Tsui

Went to SOGO in search of the famous Heng Siang Lao Po Bing. It is located at the Basement of SOGO.

Returned to Mongkok Centre to shop.

My results..haha
Shopping in Hong Kong

Saw the recommendation (from the tourist guide) of the Symphony of Lights along Avenue of Stars every night at 8pm. Decided to take a look as Hong Kong is well know for it’s night view.

It isn’t as nice as we expected. Some laser light show, nothing compared to Singapore’s.

However, the night view is real nice!

Walked the whole stretch of the Avenue of Stars. A real long stretch with all the handprints of the Hong Kong stars. Only able to recognise some as most of them are more of the olden days.

Day 4 – Eat, Shop, Eat, Shop

Xiao Fei Yang – The restaurant where we had our Yum Chai! Reasonable prices.

Took a train to the Central as it is where most of the Shopping Festival shops are located.

However, it is very similar to Singapore’s Takashimaya and Paragon. So, nothing much for us to shop.

Krispy Donuts - Saw it on the newspaper before I came. Famous donuts, not sold in Singapore yet. They had some special donuts which is not commonly seen, like the cappuccino donut and the fruity donuts. But, it is all too sweet for us.

Krispy DonutsKrispy Donuts

Saw the famous Lan Kwai Fang, for clubbing. It is not what I expect clubs do. Lol.

Lan Kwai Fang Hong Kong

Took a walk at SOGO, the Japanese shopping centre. Again, too expensive. Haha. Hence, we decided to return to Mongkok to rest first. Mind you, the walking around is tiring too as the weather is super hot on the streets and super cold in the shopping centres.

An art exhibition of Wang Yong Yu is going on at the shopping centre. Some of his art piece..

Hong Kong art exhibition

Named Rain. Lol. Not the Rain from korea k.

Now, it is time to find the Fa Yuen Jie. We had a hard time finding as the streets all look the same and the direction boards are mostly not clear and accurate.

Finally, we found it! It is a long stretch of shops, something like Bugis village. But, to our surprise, the shops close quite early at 9pm.

Ended our shopping with the yummy mango mania drinks from the famous Xu Liu San.
