Day 2 - Snorkeling

Snorkeling tour was booked yesterday. Cost us 1100B per person (S$50) Initial plan was to snorkel at 4 islands, but it was reduced to 2 islands due to the weather.

Listened to a mini presentation by the tour guide on the safety measures of snorkeling. Not able to understand fully as the speaker is speaking in thai accent English. Lol. Anyway, we had to buy fins for our foot to prevent stepping on rocks and sea urchins.

Headed out in a speed boat packed with around 50 people at 9am. I guess we took around 1 hr before we reach our first island. But, it wasn't time for snorkeling yet. We landed on a small island with very clear sea water. =)

Continued our journey to the next island and we were allowed to dip into the water for a short swim of 45min. As it was not time snorkeling, so none of us had our fins on. But, one of my friend stepped on sharp rocks and injured her toes. Poor thing, the salty sea water makes her injury tougher to tolerate as well.

Then, I think we landed on Phi Phi island, where we can finally snorkel! The staff throw breads into the sea and all the fishes simply swam towards us. without snorkeling, you can also see the fishes as they are very near the surface of the sea waters.

Headed for our lunch when it started this heavy rainfall. Oh man, we were so hungry. Lucky for us, lunch buffet was provided. ^-^

Although it is still raining, we continued our journey on the speed boat. Unlike the smooth ride we had in the morning, this is a rough one. It was rocking here and there with water spraying over the boat. The waves are huge! you had to hold on to the person next to you if not you will be moving up and down just like the roller coaster. haha

Moved on to the Monkey Island regardless of the huge waves. thumbs up to the driver! We get to feed the monkeys with bananas. What a bunch of smart and hungry monkeys they have. They will peel the banana skin themselves before eating it. But, they do get angry if you tempted them and didn't throw the banana to them. One of the girls nearly got scratched by the monkeys. There was also this monkey that was enjoying pepsi from a bottle. what a sight! haha

Then, we moved on to another island (I can't remember the name). We are given around 2 hours. You can suntan, snorkel or just hang around the beach. The group of us went out to the sea for more fishes. There are a swarm of fishes very near the beach. I wonder how they can survive that. The further you go, the more varieties of fishes you can see. We even saw some glow-in- the dark fish! But, a pity is that I didn't get to see Nemo as promised in the brochures.
