Korea Tour part 1

My first time joining a tour.

What exactly do tours do?

This May, I joined Hong Thai All in 8D Korea tour with a group of friends.

Before we went, we were expecting 5/6 stars hotel, great food, cold weather, friendly tour guide, great scenery etc..

Some of it turned out to be true and nice..
some just wasn't what we expect..

Anyway, it is still enjoyable~ =)

Day 1 & Day 2

Changi Airport

at Changi Airport~

Took a night flight to Incheon Airport via Korean Air.
First time having our breakfast at 3am. Lol.

Reached at around 6+am and hang around the airport waiting for transfer to another airport.
Timing wise not good as we wouldn't have enough time to travel to and fro to an attraction, yet, it would be too early to take the domestic flight. oh well.

oh ya, our tour guide is Mr Ellen Wang. We were all kinda puzzled why it wasn't Alan instead, haha

Incheon Airport

took domestic flight to Jeju Island and reached just in time for our 1st meal - lunch.

It was kinda weird that we were the only guest at the restaurant.
Chicken steamboat was served.

Korean Chicken Steamboat

It wasn't the usual type of steamboat we had in Singapore, where we can choose the ingredients we want and add it in. The food was all in the plate and then the staff added soup to it and let it boil. Maybe it's due to the constant boiling that make the soup sweeter and sweeter.

Had a very rush meal as everyone else had finished their food within half an hour except for our table. We didn't even have time to enjoy the nice beach view. -.-"

Next, went to visit this Dragon Head Rock.
you will have to walk all the way down before you get to see the stone.

hmm.. but somehow, I see more of a horse doing a jump. haha

nice sea view though~Dragon Head Rock

Then, we proceeded to Jeju Folklore & National History Museum. It was a showcase of how the traditional Jeju islanders live in the past.

And, there's always this lady who carried the water jug, similar to the Aquarius symbol.

That's all for today. We were brought to our hotel - Jeju Oriental Hotel and asked to rest and wait for dinner at 6pm.

had a nice sea view from our room, but our room is smaller compared to others.

view from Jeju Oriental Hotel

We were quite tired as we did not sleep much during the flight and travel journeys. But, something very annoying happened. There was this loud blast of music going on right outside our place. How do you expect us to sleep?

after asking Ellen, then we know that it the loud music was actually played by the hotel staff who was having a strike right outside our hotel! gosh!

alright, dinner time~

Mushroom steamboat, so much nicer compared to lunch..

and bibimbap..

Shop around the nearby mart to get some supplies.

As Ellen said there was a nearby shopping street, Tapdong Street. we decided to explore it ourselves. It was a friendly Korean lady who helped us find the place.
We were worried that she didn't understand what we were saying as she kept speaking Korean. But, we kinda resolved our differences using body languages. Lol.
It was a long stretch of shops and a big underground shopping place. But, the shops are closed pretty early. Most start to close around 8+ to 9pm.

Found this shop with gigantic bears - Teenie Weenie along the way.

Saw quite a few food stalls and we eagerly tried the fishcakes. But, it looked different from what we see in HYD Korea version. food is alright, you have to stand there and finish the food and return the stick though. haha

It was still so early and we had nothing much to do in hotel except watch TV. But, the tv channels are quite limited and we end up watching Desperate Housewivies in Japanese language. hahaa
